What is a Chakra and can I see it or feel it?

There are many benefits to balancing your chakras. In order for our bodies to function in an optimal way, all of our 7 chakras need to be balanced and allowing our energy to flow smoothly through our bodies. If one of the energy centres is not functioning well, then the others won’t function as well as they should

Each chakra is associated with different qualities of spiritual and mental health and all the seven chakras are connected to the various organs and glands within the body.

You can choose chakra jewelry to help balance your chakras. Each stone has a different vibration and is associated with a specific chakra or multiple chakras.

8th Chakra – Soul Star Chakra

The Soul Star Chakra is located about a hand width above the head, and for some people up to 6 to 24 inches above your head. It is believed that it protects your physical, emotional, and spiritual body.
The Sanskrit name for the Soul Star Chakra is “Vyapini”. It’s translation is all-pervading, or “reaching through. It is known as the Seat of the Soul.
The Soul Star Chakra is commonly represented with the color white or gold.
Some stones that support your Soul Star Chakra are Clear Crystal Quartz, Soul Star Quartz. Blue Kyanite, Selenite, Danburite and Lemurian Seed Crystals.

7th Chakra – Crown Chakra

Your Crown Chakra is located just a couple inches above your head.
The Sanskrit name for the Crown Chakra is also “Sahasrara”. It’s translation is a “Thousand petals”.
The Crown Chakra is commonly represented with the color white and sometimes dark purple hues.
Some stones that support your Crown Chakra are Selenite, Clear Quartz and Amethyst.

6th Chakra – Third Eye Chakra

Your Third Eye Chakra is located between your eyebrows in the center of your forehead.
The Sanskrit name for the Third Eye Chakra is “Ajna”. It’s translation is “command” and “perceiving”.
The Third Eye Chakra is commonly represented with the color purple with blue hues.
Some stones that support your Third Eye Chakra are Amethyst, Moldavite, Purple Fluorite, Black Obsidian, Angelite, Moonstone, Sodalite, Labradorite, Tanzanite and Crazy Lace Agate.

5th Chakra – Throat Chakra

Your Throat Chakra is located in the center of your neck or throat. Your Throat Chakra is considered the passage of energy between the lower parts of the body and the head. Your higher Chakras above your throat are considered connection to the Divine Spiritual Energy or Enlightenment.
The Sanskrit name for the Throat Chakra is “Vishudda”. It’s translation is “pure” or “purification”.
The Throat Chakra is commonly represented with the color blue turquoise or aquamarine blue.
The stones that support your Throat Chakra are Amazonite, Blue Quartz, Lapis lazuli, Turquoise, Aquamarine, Sodalite, Blue Goldstone, Kyanite, Blue Apatite, Chrysocolla and Labradorite.

4th Chakra – Heart Chakra

Your Heart Chakra is located in the center of your chest, however not where your heart is located as some believe.
The Sanskrit name for the Heart Chakra is “Anahata”. It’s translation is “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”.
The Heart Chakra is commonly represented with the color green and sometimes pink.
The stones that support your Heart Chakra are Rose Quartz, Green Tourmaline, Amazonite, Turquoise, Green Jade, Green Calcite, Aventurine, Seraphinite, Rhodonite, Rhodochrosite, Kunzite, Malachite and Watermelon Tourmaline

3rd Chakra – Solar Plexus Chakra

Your Solar Plexus Chakra is located around your solar plexus, hence the name. However, some consider it a little lower or closer to your navel.
The Sanskrit name for the Solar Plexus Chakra is “Manipura”. It’s translation is mani meaning “gem,” and pura or puri meaning “city” or “resplendent gem” or “lustrous gem”.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is commonly represented with the color yellow or yellowish-red.
The stones that support your Solar Plexus Chakra are Yellow Aventurine, Tiger’s Eye, Peridot, Honey Calcite, Sunstone, Ametrine, Ocean Jasper, Abalone (shell), Topaz, Malachite, and Citrine.

2nd Chakra – Sacral Chakra

Your Sacral Chakra is located a few inches below the navel in the center of your abdomen/belly.
The Sanskrit name for the Sacral Chakra is “Svadhisthana”. It’s translation is “your own place” or “sweetness” and in a metaphorical sense relates to the sensual and sexual pleasures of the body.
The Sacral Chakra is commonly represented with the color orange or even very light blue as it is associated with water element.
The stones that support your Sacral Chakra are Yellow Aventurine, Tiger’s Eye, Sunstone, Chrysoprase, Orange Aventurine, Smokey Quartz, Citrine, Goldstone, Botswana Agate, Carnelian, Moonstone, Bamboo Coral and Red Brecciated Jasper.

1st Chakra – Root Chakra or Base Chakra

Your Root Chakra is located around the perineum in the pelvic area or base of spine.
The Sanskrit name for the Root Chakra is “Muladhara”. It’s translation is Mula meaning “root” and Adhara which means “support” or “foundation”, vitality and awakening (kundalini energy) or sexual energy.
The Root Chakra is commonly represented with the color red, and sometimes yellow or gold.
