WHAT ARE CHAKRAS? What do Chakras Do? How Many Chakras Do I Have?

There are 7 main Chakras, and some believe there are many other additional chakras as well. Chakras (meaning “wheel” or “disk”) are vital energy centers located along our spine that run from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Chakras are considered the centers of spiritual power in the human body.

In order for our bodies to function in an optimal way, all of our 7 chakras need to be balanced and allowing our energy to flow smoothly through our bodies. If one of the energy centres is not functioning well, then the others won’t function as well as they should

The Soul Star Chakra is located about a hand width above the head, and for some people up to 6 to 24 inches above your head. It is believed that it protects your physical, emotional, and spiritual body.
The Sanskrit name for the Soul Star Chakra is “Vyapini”. It’s translation is all-pervading, or “reaching through. It is known as the Seat of the Soul.
The Soul Star Chakra is commonly represented with the color white or gold.

7th Chakra – Crown Chakra

Your Crown Chakra is located just a couple inches above your head.

Your Third Eye Chakra is located between your eyebrows in the center of your forehead.

Your Solar Plexus Chakra is located around your solar plexus, hence the name. However, some consider it a little lower or closer to your navel.
The Sanskrit name for the Solar Plexus Chakra is “Manipura”. It’s translation is mani meaning “gem,” and pura or puri meaning “city” or “resplendent gem” or “lustrous gem”.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is commonly represented with the color yellow or yellowish-red.

2nd Chakra – Sacral Chakra

The Sanskrit name for the Sacral Chakra is “Svadhisthana”. It’s translation is “your own place” or “sweetness” and in a metaphorical sense relates to the sensual and sexual pleasures of the body.
