Autism Awareness Day is celebrated April 22nd each year.

I know more than one person who is considered autistic or is on the autism spectrum and these video has helped me tremendously appreciate the autistic brain or people with similar patterns in behavior. I have family that are on the spectrum and for quite some time I have seriously considered the possibility that I may be as well due to many factors.

You may have heard the term Neurodivergent in more recent years. Many think it is simply a word to describe a person on the autism spectrum. However, Neurodivergent describes someone whose brain processes information in a way that is different from what is considered typical or “normal” by certain standards. So, in recent years the term neurodivergent also includes autism (ASD-autism spectrum disorder), ADHD/OCD and dyslexia. And, the term expresses that these are natural differences and variations in human cognition rather than deficits.

Additionally, any of these conditions display on a vast spectrum from minimal to severe in behavior.

Also, some studies have revealed that there is a strong relationship between substance use and behavioral addiction and certain kinds of neurodivergence (which I may explore in another post).

I have found the below resources incredibly valuable, insightful and enjoyable. I encourage you to explore these channels if you yourself or someone you love or care about is on the spectrum.
